CPRT has enrolled participants into clinical studies for many different health indications, including:


Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus:

  • New formulas of insulin

  • Oral medications (tablets)

  • Portable meters and insulin pumps

  • Paediatric studies

  • Family Screening and Prevention studies

  • Retinopathy


Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (Phases 2-4):

  • Oral medications (including DPP-4 inhibitors, SGLT 1 and 2 inhibitors)

  • Injectable medications (New insulin formulas, GLP-1 agonists, novel metabolic agents)

  • Implant studies- new delivery systems for registered medications

  • Weight loss studies

  • Nephropathy (mild, moderate and severe)

  • Meter studies



  • Hypertension

  • Heart Failure (reduced ejection fraction)


Hyperlipidaemia (Phase 2 and 3):

  • Familial Hyperlipidaemia (including apheresis patients)

  • High triglycerides

  • Combined dyslipidaemia

  • Statin-intolerant


Respiratory Health:

  • Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease/Emphysema

  • Asthma

  • Prevention of respiratory infections in over 65 year olds



  • Eczema

  • Infections


Geriatric population (≥ 65years:)

  • Immune system

  • Healthy aging and general wellbeing

  • Vaccine response

  • Prevention of infections


Long-term Health Outcome Trials assessing Cardiovascular, Renal, or Bone Health Outcomes:

  • Diabetic medications

  • Heart Failure medications

  • Lipid-Lowering medications

Ethics committee meetings are held every 2 weeks in New Zealand.

There is a 35 day turnaround from submission to approval.
