Dr Jane Kerr:
Originally graduating in Scotland,
Dr Jane Kerr has worked in the pharmaceutical drug trial field for 20 years. Her work experience spans all the stages of drug development, from Phases 1 to 4.
Dr Kerr has a post-graduate Masters of Public Health, which means she can consider national and international population issues relevant to the development of new medicines. She sat as a Health and Disability Ethics Committee member (for the Ministry of Health) for over 6 years.
Jane is committed to ensuring Christchurch remains a key centre for high-quality research, and has connections in the local and national research communities.
Professor Russell Scott:
Russell is a physician at Christchurch Hospital, New Zealand. His qualifications are MB, ChB BMed Sci from the University of Otago in NZ, and PhD from Monash University Australia. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. He is involved in the acute internal medicine service at Christchurch Hospital and includes in his specialty’s diabetes, endocrinology, metabolic disorders and lipidology. He has been involved in clinical research since the mid 1980’s and has been an investigator for 234 studies. He is also a Clinical Professor of Medicine, Christchurch School of Medicine and Health Sciences, University of Otago, New Zealand. His main research interests are prevention and treatment of type 1 DM, new technologies for diabetes mellitus, lipid disorders and cardiovascular disease, triglyceride regulation and clinical trials of new medications for diabetes and lipid disorders. He has published 12 book chapters and 228 refereed articles in the areas of diabetes, atherosclerosis, and lipid disorders.
Dr Samantha Bailey:
Dr Bailey graduated from Otago University and originally completed her Primary Membership Examination for General Practice.
She has worked as a Sub-Investigator in clinical trials since 2008 from Phases 1 to 4, with a particular interest in Cardiology, Diabetic and Cholesterol Research.
Samantha founded New Zealand's first online doctor and prescription service and has been a co-presenter for the TVNZ 1 series "The Checkup".
The rest of the team:
Consists of 6 Clinical Trial Coordinators with Nursing and Medical backgrounds, a Clinical Scientist, a Phlebotomist/Research Assistant and a Receptionist.
We are located adjacent to the Health Precinct, with ample parking free of charge for our participants.
There is no cost to trial participants and travel expenses will be reimbursed.
